Family Time

Celebrating my mom's 75th birthday was only a little similar to celebrating her 30th. My mom was a young bride, so when she turned 30, we (her children, Michael being the instigator) were old enough to know it was probably significant. So, we threw her a surprise party. We announced it with pride and invited the entire neighborhood and ward with great excitement. She cried for days.
45 years later, we did it again. . . and she cried again. Only this time, we didn't announce it to the neighborhood, we celebrated with family. About 45 family members were able to attend a weekend of fun and honor for mom, grandma and great-grandma.

The day started with a breakfast of pancakes, but still no announcement of all that the day would hold. Grandma was surprised with just this part.

Following breakfast, Grandma, along with Marie, Jolie, Kalleen, Nanette and I, went to the temple. This was the highlight of the day as we did work for some very dear loved ones. It was precious and an honor to be there with each other.

Swimming and lunch came next.

Hanging out in the lobby of the pool.
Chilling with baby Coons . . . .Brian's little one, born only weeks before.

We had a barbeque and sing a long that evening. Marie had made a quilt, to become an award winner, (written about in her blog "Quakie Lane Quilts") which was given as the final gift of the 75 given.

One of my personal favorites of the day is this photo of the family crash following a wonderful day. What can be better than a home filled with family.
Thanks to all for coming and celebrating and honoring the woman who has given her life to loving and serving all who are around her. Love you, Mom.
